Cognitive Behavioral Therapy—A Safe Way to Treat Sex-Identity Distress
Drs. Michael Bailey and Kenneth Zucker, longtime medical experts in sex-identity distress in youth, make a strong case for using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a first-line treatment rather than sex-rejecting interventions.
They dismantle the faulty propositions of the sex-rejecting model and examine how its implementation resulted not from “empirical advances,” but from “the unquestioned ideological belief that treating gender dysphoria as a psychological problem is unenlightened, unethical, and akin to conversion therapy for sexual orientation… The accusation that any goal other than transition is tantamount to conversion therapy is specious but has nevertheless been rhetorically effective.”
House Passes Stopping Indoctrination and Protecting Kids Act
Last Wednesday, the House passed H.R. 2616, the “Stopping Indoctrination and Protecting Kids Act,” legislation aimed at increasing parental involvement in their children’s education in public elementary and middle schools.
The bill would require parental notification and consent before schools and faculty change a child’s pronouns on identification forms, socially affirm and refer to a child as the opposite sex, or allow access to opposite-sex shared spaces. Under the provisions of this bill, schools that do not comply with these restrictions would risk losing federal funding.
Transgender Activists Drop Lawsuit Against Idaho Bathroom Privacy Law
Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador announced that a federal legal challenge to the state’s 2023 school bathroom privacy law has ended after the transgender activists dismissed both their district court case and Ninth Circuit appeal.
As stands, the Senate Bill 1100 requires students in K–12 public schools to use sex-designated restrooms, locker rooms, and other intimate facilities based on sex, while allowing single-occupancy accommodations for students seeking additional privacy.
