How to Have Difficult Conversations about Transgender Ideology
Standing up, speaking out or just having coffee with a colleague, many of us are not comfortable having conversations about the harms of gender ideology. Conversing with someone who is in the medical field can be especially challenging, whether it is your business partner, the consultant in the doctors’ lounge or your internist brother-in law at Thanksgiving. Add to that challenge, someone who has a relative, even a child who is experiencing confusion or discomfort about their sex, and it is no wonder engaging in this topic has become almost taboo.
However, as healthcare professionals, we are called to act in difficult times when a life is at stake. We are medical experts and it is our duty and our place to speak up, especially when children are being harmed. In this session, you will learn effective ways to talk about transgender ideology, “gender-affirming care,” why it is harmful and how we should compassionately advocate for the best care for all children.

FCC Empowers Parents to Protect Their Children from Uncontrolled Media Exposure
Last Wednesday, the Federal Communications Commission’s Media Bureau issued a public notice seeking comments on further empowering parents to protect their children and make informed choices about the TV programs their children watch. In its notice, the FCC challenged the TV Oversight Management Board (TVOMB), which includes various representatives from health and media companies, raising concerns about the efficacy of its existing content regulations and its representation of parents’ best interests in protecting the safety and well-being of their children.
One of those concerns includes the growing ability of media companies to platform children’s shows and movies that support and even promote gender ideology. ACPeds supports the FCC’s desire to enforce regulations that would require media companies to limit such content or provide a disclaimer informing parents about such content.
To protect children, ACPeds recommends generally limiting screen time for minors and has previously issued resources to equip parents and warn of the risks of uncontrolled media exposure.
Montana Court Allows Biological Markers to Reflect Gender Identity
Last Tuesday, the Montana Supreme Court upheld a lower court order blocking a state policy that prevented residents who self-identified as the opposite sex from updating the sex marker on their identity documents. The court decided that the policy “violated” the state constitution by discriminating on the basis of sex.
While Montana passed a bill in 2023 that protects minors from harmful sex-rejecting interventions, this ruling will continue to allow adult individuals to self-identify as the opposite sex and change their documents accordingly, raising concerns about privacy and safety in shared spaces.
This reflects an ongoing debate over biological integrity and policy approaches that continues to vary from state to state.
The Transgender War is Not Over
Carl R. Trueman, a fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, argues that while transgender ideology has recently faced political and cultural setbacks in the U.S., the broader struggle is far from over.
Trueman warns that even if the tide is shifting on issues such as women’s sports and sex-rejecting chemical and surgical interventions for minors, transgender activism remains supported by powerful institutions, such as the Human Rights Campaign, and mainstream media. He also suggests that the deeper cultural conflict is moving toward transhumanist ideas that could continue to reshape biological and sociological conceptions of human identity.
Federal Judge Blocks RFK Jr. from Withholding Government Funding for Sex-Rejecting Interventions
A coalition of 20 states, along with Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, sued Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. over a December 2025 directive stating that medical providers and organizations could be denied Medicaid and Medicare funding if they continue providing what it described as harmful sex-rejecting interventions on minors.
A federal judge has now blocked the directive, ruling that the funding restriction cannot be enforced at this time. The decision allows Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement for sex-rejecting interventions to continue while the case proceeds. The lawsuit seeks to challenge the federal government’s authority to regulate healthcare funding on restrictions related to these harmful interventions.
